Richard Ziebart

It is with a heavy heart that I writing to notify the followers of this website, particularly members of the 417th NFS family, that my father, to whom I dedicated this site, is in ill health and will likely be going into his Lord’s arms very soon.  Your thoughts and prayers for a peaceful journey on this, his last flight are welcome.

Kind Regards,

Jackie  (417th NFS Website admin)

  1. Blessings to you and your family during this journey. This site was a great joy to your father. Many have enjoyed this site and I am grateful to you for it.

  2. I’m sorry to hear this news. I hope he is at peace.
I’d like to share with him access to a website I’m assembling of my Uncle Tom Cartmell’s wartime letters. Tom was a pilot with the 417th, was shot down at the end of the war, and neither he nor his R.O., Hal Anderson, survived.

I’m not finished with the site, but as time is limited for your father, I’d rather share this with him in it’s incomplete stage, than not at all. The site can be reached at

  3. Jackie, I will be forever grateful to your dad, to Dan, and to you for keeping the 417th alive. Your dad is such a giving person… and so very much appreciated by me and my whole family. You will all be in my prayers.
